TOM WINPENNY

Tom Winpenny is currently Assistant Master of Music at St. Albans Cathedral and can be heard regularly on BBC broadcasts.  He has toured internationally with the Choir of King’s College and in addition to giving numerous premières of music by contemporary British composers he has recorded the works of Mendelssohn, Messiaen, Stanford, McCabe and Matthias. Winpenny has recently released a second disc on Naxos of Malcolm Williamsons’s organ music with the support of the British Music Society.

He began organ lessons under John Scott Whiteley while a chorister at York Minster, and continued as a Music Scholar at Eton College under Alastair Sampson. In recent years he has given recitals in Grace Cathedral (San Francisco), Birmingham Town Hall, Salisbury Cathedral, Trinity Cathedral (Phoenix), Hildesheim Cathedral (Germany) and Kristiansand Cathedral (Norway).

He has also featured as organ soloist in John Rutter’s Christmas celebration concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, London, and recently performed Francis Pott’s monumental organ symphony Christus.
