
Freedom Cries Out
Australian soprano Samantha Crawford (pictured above) has created Freedom Cries Out, telling stories of displaced people and refugees.
The programme includes the first public performance of Wendy Hiscocks’ Si-hwi-hwi and the world premiere of Raymond Yiu’s song cycle the other side of hope.
Other songs feature Shawn Okpebholo’s Words Like Freedom, Jake Heggie’s These Strangers and songs by Roxanna Panufnik, Cecilia MacDowall, Elisabeth Lutyens and Edgar Bainton.
The event organizers are partnering with Refugee Education UK and supported by VW Foundation, Finzi Friends and UK Welcomes Refugees.
