CAM Concerts in Oxford and Stow

Seraphim Trio

Coral Fantasy by Wendy Hiscocks will feature in two fabulous concerts with one of Australia’s most acclaimed chamber music groups: the Seraphim Trio…

Australian composer Wendy Hiscocks – now resident in Gloucestershire – composed the Coral Fantasy in 1993. Since then this piano trio work has had multiple performances around the world.

Wendy Hiscocks

‘When playing the piano for a London children’s ballet company, a friend suggested I write a ballet set in a coral reef. Trips to Hawaii and Australia further fed my imagination with exotic possibilities in tropical waters. Coral Fantasy was the result and captures a magical array of underwater currents, jellyfish and clown fish, a tropical sunset and the sunlight reflecting off the surface of the water.’

This engaging work has also been recorded by Symposium:

‘… elegantly depicts its scenes of marine life within a coral reef against a context of dawn and dusk above the waves’
