Hail the Bright Seraphim!
Here’s a heads up of what’s in CAM’s diary for the start of 2025: Coming soon we have some fabulous concerts with an adventurous programme performed by one of Australia’s most acclaimed chamber music groups: the Seraphim Trio…
Formed in Adelaide in 1995, the Seraphim Trio has been acclaimed for its marathon performances of the complete Beethoven Trios, its Trio Through Time recording project with 12 piano trios from Mozart to Sculthorpe, and their inventive cross art-form collaborations.
Starting off ‘Down Under’, the Seraphim Trio will be performing a programme of Haydn, Ravel, Elizabeth Younan and Wendy Hiscocks on 12 January in a special fundraising event for South Sudan at Adelaide’s St Peters Cathedral.
Back in the UK on 8 February, the trio will perform a full programme at St. Michael & All Angels in Oxford with classics by Haydn and Ravel alongside Australian music by Wendy Hiscocks and Elizabeth Younan as well as variations on Schubert’s ‘Tauerwalzer’ by Andrew Ford, Elena Kats-Chernin, Calvin Bowman and Andrea Keller.
The following day on 9 February, the trio will perform a one hour programme at St. Edward’s Church Stow-on-the-Wold with Haydn and Ravel classics alongside Coral Fantasy by Wendy Hiscocks.
And don’t forget, on 28 January we head to Cardiff, the Capital of Wales, for a celebration of music by Cardiff University composers and Welsh folk music together with Robin Ddiog by Wendy Hiscocks. This recital will be performed by Jeremy Huw Williams baritone and Wendy Hiscocks piano including songs from their new CD of songs by Welsh composer Grace Williams. Watch the video
