Australia in Greenwich

Australia in Greenwich

Join us for CAM’s next recital with a programme of Australian music plus a tribute to the music of Gabriel Fauré.

The spirit of Australia will be transported to a wonderful Baroque church in Greenwich for this lunchtime recital. The programme will feature music by four living composers alongside the music of Gabriel Fauré in his anniversary year.

Flautist Mark Underwood and pianist/CAM director Wendy Hiscocks will present an exciting and varied programme for this free concert on 27 January.

Programme

Wendy Hiscocks Keshovati (flute & narration)

Anne Boyd Goldfish through summer rain

Brett Thompson Air on Pipe

Gabriel Fauré

Sicilienne op. 78

Keshovati by Wendy Hiscocks was written in 2002 and is based on a Bengali folk tale. Composer and music educator, Anne Boyd wrote her much performed Goldfish through Summer Rain in 1979. Air on Pipe is by composer and flautist Brett Thompson who studied in both Australia and London.

Also featured will be Mark Underwood’s enjoyable Waltzing Matilda Variations. In his anniversary year, we shall also pay tribute to the music of French composer Gabriel Fauré (1845 – 1924) whose music has been described as the link between Romanticism and 20th century romanticism.
