Violin Conversations
Two works for solo violin by Wendy Hiscocks feature on a new Naxos recording to be released on 23 June 2023.
Violin Conversations is a deeply personal collection of recordings from violinist Madeleine Mitchell. The CD features contemporary works from an international circle of composers and friends.
Described by The Times as ‘one of the UK’s liveliest musical forces (and) foremost violinists’, Mitchell’s release including eight world premiere recordings, six of which were written specially for her.
The two works written by Wendy Hiscocks are the 1990 Caprice for solo violin and Dry White Fire from 2010 for violin and piano.
The CD is expected to be featured in the Strad, Interlude HK, Presto Classical, on Scala and Times Radio (Caprice 24.6 2.15) and reviewed in BBC Music Magazine amongst others.
Wendy’s Caprice has a further live performance scheduled for 10 October as part of the Noontime Concerts series in San Francisco which will be live streamed.
Already on Apple Music’s Women in Classical Music playlist Wendy’s Caprice has been listed as one of their ‘most played songs’ with currently nearly 250 plays.
Also featured on the disk is Mist Waves by the American-Australian composer Douglas Knehans alongside other works by British composers.
The album is supported by the Royal College of Music, the Rawsthorne Trust, the Vaughan Williams Foundation and anonymous.
