Anzac Cove

for SATB choir
Text by Kemal Attatürk

LISTEN

ABOUT

Following a visit to Anzac Cove at Gallipoli in 2000, the composer was moved by the beauty of Attaturk’s text, which is carved into a large stone plaque near the shoreline. This piece was the outcome and the opening brush-pulse is not a reference to drums or military noise but to the ghostly echoes of the ANZAC’s footsteps. The work was premiered as part of a programme entitled Remembrance – an Anzac Tribute in 2003.

REVIEWS

“Thank you for writing such a stunning piece of music – I still get goosebumps when I think of it.” Member of Flight of Ideas

“People who think Hiscocks is simple aren’t listening. When you get down and dirty with this stuff, it’s a welcome challenge.” Tom Farnan, conductor, The Australian ‘Sounds like Anzac Spirit’
