Celebrating Australian Music presents a wonderful programme exploring the riches of Australian Art Song on 25 October as part of the London Song Festival…

‘Great venue, inspired programme and sublime performances all round’

Australian singers Samantha Crawford, winner of the Wagner Society Singing Competition and Berliner International Competition, and Victoria Hodgkinson, Kohn Bach Scholar at Royal Academy of Music will be performing songs composed by Roy Agnew, Don Banks, Brett Dean, Wendy Hiscocks and others.

Australian literature also features with David Martin’s description of an outback Australian Christmas. Alongside there will also be readings for Michael Leunig’s popular texts both witty and wise read by actress Ann Holme. These have also been set to music in Brett Dean’s Poems and Prayers.

Samantha and Victoria will be joined by pianist Wendy Hiscocks and Chi-Yu Mo, co-principal clarinettist with the London Symphony Orchestra and professor at the Royal Academy of  Music.
